If you are trying to lose weight fast, there are a few things you should know.
When it comes to weight, most of us have a few random pounds we would like to drop. There are plenty of ways out there to do this, but the most tried and true is to adopt a fitness regimen that works for you, and turn it into a routine that you can keep up. Changing your lifestyle is the best way to shed unwanted weight, and keep it off. Sometimes we have events in our lives that call for some fast weight loss however, such as a wedding, high school reunion, or family holiday (the in-laws can be oh, so cruel). Obviously there are a lot of fads out there like juice cleanses, detox drinks, and diet pills, but they aren’t all safe. So if you are trying to lose weight fast, regardless of your reason, here are a few things you should consider:
The National Institutes of Health recommend that you take your time, since you only lose one pound of fat for every 3,500 calories you shed. If you cut 500 calories from your daily intake, you should lose about one pound per week.
Stress causes weight gain, instead of loss. So getting stressed about weight loss will create cortisol, which will trigger your body to start storing fat. Obviously, taking your time with weight loss will create much less stress so plan ahead.

Your body will go into starvation mode if you deprive it of calories, and slow down your metabolism to conserve energy. This will cause more fat storage, which is the opposite of what you want.
Crash diets cause your leptin levels (leptin is the hormone that controls hunger) to plummet and make you crave food, which could result in binging, guilt, and stress.
Cutting calories too quickly eats up muscle tone, because the first thing your body burns up is muscles, when faced with starvation.
The most healthy way to lose weight is to take your time, so changing the way you think about it will ultimately yield more permanent results. Instead of deciding to lose weight for an event, decide to live a more healthy life, and start immediately. If your self-esteem is tied up in the way you look to other people, you probably have some issues inside to deal with, that are also hampering your weight loss.
No matter what you decide to do, it is never too late or early to start taking care of your body, but I urge you to do it in a healthy way.
